Fourth
Sunday of Easter

Jesus
said: “The sheep that belong
to me listen to my voice”.
One of the big questions of today for people is:
“Who am I?” and there are all kinds
of self-awareness courses around to help us answer
that question. It is an important question and
many of these courses are helpful. But it is not
the most important question for us. Much more
important is the question: “To whom do I
belong?”. Belonging is of the essence of
being human and our belonging is identified by
and lived out through the voices that we listen
to. Some people listen to the voice of the world
around which tells us to put ourselves first and
they belong to the world. Others listen to the
voice of Christ telling us to put others first
and by so doing they belong to him. In the struggle
between the two, Christ invites us to listen to
his voice.
Fr. Johnny Doherty, C.Ss.R.

Parishioners of Cappagh & Drumragh:
Greetings from Tianmen Parish of Hanyang Diocese,
China. We thank you for your generous donations
which amounted to £5,380 towards the construction
of our church building in the diocese of Hanyang,
Hubei Province, China. Your support shows the
fraternalship of the universal Church.
After a long time of effort, we got a piece of
land in the Parish of Tianmen last year, so we
have planned a new church here. The whole project
is to be finished in 2 years. We will send some
photos to you all after the construction is completed.
Finally we pray for God’s blessing for all
our benefactors. May the risen Lord grant you
peace and all the grace you need.
Fr Joseph Li (Parish Priest),
Tianmen Parish, Hanyang Diocese,
China.

What is a Week of Guided Prayer?
A Week of Guided Prayer is a
way of making a retreat in the midst of our busy
day. The retreat is scripture-based and participants
are invited to spend some time at home each day
reflecting on a particular scripture passage,
letting it speak to them in their present life
situation, responding to it from their heart,
and then coming to the Pastoral Centre at a prearranged
time to talk with a trained Prayer Guide about
their prayer experience. (A different passage
of scripture is usually given each day).
A Week of Guided Prayer begins
on a Sunday evening with a group session to introduce
participants to the format of the week and to
give some explanation of Praying with Scripture;
to spend some time praying together and to introduce
retreatants to their personal guide. The one-to-one
sessions run from Monday to Thursday at a time
convenient to the retreatant and last for 25 to
30 minutes each day. On Friday evening everyone
comes together again to bring the week to a prayerful
closing and to celebrate!
One-to-one prayer guidance can
help you notice what God is doing in your life
and how you can help that process. The next Week
of Guided Prayer in our Parish is from Sunday
16th to Friday 21st May.

“Growing Through Change”
- A Residential Weekend for Bereaved Young People
Friday 30th April – Sunday 2nd May 2010
“Bereavement can be a life-defining experience
for young people.” (Joseph Rowntree Foundation).
The loss of a loved one, especially a parent can
be one of the most traumatic events in the life
of a young person or child. Families often try
to protect children, for example; keeping things
from them in the case of family break down or
not letting children attend a funeral if a family
member has died. Young people need to know that
it is alright to express their grief in their
own way without feeling guilty or wrong. The “Growing
through Change” Residential Weekend is a
structured programme presented by a team of trained
youth volunteers who themselves have experienced
bereavement. Young people take a strong leadership
role in all aspects of the weekend. They present
their personal stories of grief and loss and reach
out to their peers with compassion and care. The
weekend is residential and takes place in the
Residential Centre, Ulster American Folk Park
from 8pm on Friday 30th April until 5 pm on Sunday
2nd May. For further information and application
forms please contact: Bridie or Pat at the Youthlife
Centre on 028 7137 7227 or 0791 250 7388. Email
