Sunday 15th June 2008
The 11th Sunday in Ordinary Time
If you have food in the refrigerator,
clothes on your back, a roof overhead and a place
to sleep you are richer than 75% of this world.
If you have money in the bank,
in your wallet, and spare change in a dish, you
are among the top 8% of the world's wealthy.
And if you have your own computer, you are part
of the 1% in the world who has that opportunity.
If you woke up this morning with
more health than illness ... you are more blessed
than the many who will not even survive this day.
If you have never experienced
the fear in battle, the loneliness of imprisonment,
the agony of torture, or the pangs of starvation
... you are ahead of 700 million people in the
world.
If you can attend a church without
the fear of harassment, arrest, torture or death
you are envied by, and more blessed than, three
billion people in the world.
If your parents are still alive
and still married ...you are very rare.
If you can hold your head up
and smile, you are not the norm, you're unique
to all those in doubt and despair.
If you can read this message,
you are more blessed than over two billion people
in the world who cannot read at all.
Have a good day and count your blessings.

Bless, O God, our families.
Give to those who care for
us the spirit of understanding
and the spirit of love, that our homes may be
places of peace and laughter.
Come into our homes, O Lord,
and protect us with your love,
so that we may live in peace and rejoice in the
quiet
beauty of your blessing. AMEN

Sacred Heart College
- ‘Friends of Fagaras’
A special Church gate collection is to be held
on Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd June for a group
of 10 girls from the Sacred Heart College who
are travelling to Fagaras in Romania in October.
They will work in an abandoned baby clinic and
a local orphanage. The girls are hoping to raise
enough money to buy much-needed medical equipment
for the clinic. Your generous support will go
DIRECTLY towards this equipment and medicine.
The girls will speak about the trip at all masses
in the Sacred Heart Church next weekend.

Polish Mass
The Polish Mass, normally on the second
Tuesday of the month in the Sacred Heart
Church, will not take place during the summer
months (July & August). There will be
a notice in the bulletin at the end of the
summer, advising of a date for this Mass
to resume.

Questions people ask
Q. Judas was one of the chosen apostles.
How did he drift away from Jesus?
A. Maybe Judas
was disillusioned because he expected Jesus to
be a political Messiah restoring the freedom of
the nation. In the Gospel of John a deeper reason
is suggested. The first mention of betrayal comes
at the end of Chapter Six when many people walk
away from Jesus because they would not believe
that he would give us his flesh to eat and his
blood to drink. Then, later, it was precisely
when Judas received a piece of bread from Jesus
at the last supper that he allowed Satan to enter
him. So, the real reason for Judas’ betrayal
may have been rejection of the teaching of the
Eucharist. Fr Silvester O’Flynn

your help and goodwill. Have you a wheelchair
which you no longer need? If you have and would
like to see it being put to good use, you can
donate your used wheelchair to Shopmobility Omagh.
Your donations will be greatly appreciated and
